Iran’s filmmaker Naqqashzadeh appointed as Fajr fest president

Iranian director and university professor Masoud Naqqashzadeh has been appointed as the new president of the 40th Fajr Film Festival (FFF) to be held in Iran.

Iranian director and university professor Masoud Naqqashzadeh has been appointed as the new president of the 40th Fajr Film Festival (FFF) to be held in Iran.

Iran’s Deputy Culture Minister and the head of Cinema Organization of Iran Mohammad Khazaei issued the decree, noting that, “The 40th Fajr Film Festival is expected to be a great opportunity to start a new chapter in the revolutionary development and reconstruction of the country’s cinema infrastructure.”

The official said that cooperation between institutes and organizations is highly significant in holding a great festival.

Naqqashzadeh is also one of the cultural and cinematic directors of the country. He holds a doctorate in art studies. He has experience working in Iran’s Farabi Cinema Foundation, Iran’s House of Cinema, and the Visual Media Institute.

Since its establishment in 1982, the Fajr Film Festival, which also runs in an international version, has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

The FFF coincides with the ten-day Fajr (Dawn) ceremonies across Iran, marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Iran’s Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) has recently been accredited by the FIAPF, a Belgium-based regulator of international film festivals.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.
